As the concept of mindfulness has grown recently in its relation to health and healing, many misconceptions of what mindfulness is have risen with it. As the buzz around it increases, the idea of mindfulness can begin to seem like a product that can be purchased and will lead to healing. The reality is that mindfulness takes courage. It is hard to push away reflexive judgments that lead people to the things they know and push things away that are not wanted, but mindfulness calls for people to fully experience what is occurring in the moment and observe everything with openness and curiosity.
