Clinical work includes both a thorough evaluation and psychotherapy for problems of mood, such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, or bipolar disorder. Solution-focused strategies and therapy aims to help you resolve struggles with fear and anxiety. Find remedies to conditions like “panic attack,” Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or Social Anxiety and similar phobia.

Self-Regulation: Manage your Moods ~ Emotions ~ Actions.
Do Your Moods and Emotions Seem to be Managing You?
My services provide psychotherapy, counseling resources, and skills-development for the management of unwanted habits and compulsive behaviors. Cognitive behavioral therapy will help you remedy problems of mood and emotions – anxiety and worry, grief, frustration – anger management – phobia and fear. Behavioral problems involving various forms of avoidance, procrastination, perfectionism, and similar self-defeating tendencies may also be resolved.
As a psychotherapist, I help clients gain clarity and awareness of vital life values and specified personal goals as we effectively explore the nature of their challenges. The therapeutic learning of cognitive–behavioral coping skills requires dedicated rehearsal to maintain personal (psychological) practices that reinforce and assure lasting personal change.
Treatment Matching:
Referrals to Local and National Therapists & Psychologists
My services include therapist matching and counselor referral recommendations to select psychologists and other practitioners when clients present with difficulties that are beyond the scope of my practice. You may desire referrals to psychiatrists for evaluation for medicines, or to medical doctors, chiropractors, and alternative specialists like naturopathic physicians, acupuncturists or massage therapists. I maintain a referral base of clinical neuropsychologists and forensic psychologists for clients who require psychological tests and measures and empirically-based psychological assessment inventories.
Maintain Your Psychological Health
Psychotherapy in Seattle & Convenient to Bellevue
My practice offers a relaxed and entirely private setting for anyone wishing to explore personal growth – or compromised mental health. As a practicing psychotherapist and counselor, I enjoy working with people who are feeling perplexed or overwhelmed by the complexities of their psychological lives. I treat individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, and/or domestic violence. Marital couples and individuals struggling with relationships are welcome to speak safely with me about options for renewal and change. I maintain a large referral network of the best marriage counselors, marital therapists, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals. My practice is convenient to Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland and Mercer Island, Washington. If you live out of the area, I offer private telephone consultations.
Couples and Marital Counseling:
Harmonize Your Relationships
My counseling practice provides solution-focused psychotherapy and skills-based behavioral therapy for couples in conflict. I enjoy helping committed couples develop coping strategies to resolve relationship problems. I help couples adjust to the changes, challenges, and stress that are implicit in living in vital relationship. I also work as a counselor and therapist for “recovering couples” who are rebounding from codependency and addictive relationship roles.
Behavioral Wellbeing:
Manage Your Self-Limiting Habits
Solution-oriented therapeutic services include behavior-regulation (life-defeating habits or behavior therapy for compulsions like gambling, pornography, chat rooms, internet role play games, and shopping) and I specialize in various relapse-prevention strategies (e.g., smoking, eating, alcohol and other drug abuse). Frequently people come to my practice with challenges that involve various forms of avoidance, problems with self-regulation, poor impulse-control, and unwanted habits or compulsive behaviors. My philosophy of mental health emphasizes psychological learning principles that enhance personal competence through skills-development and the rehearsal and maintenance of behavioral health.
Psychologically Based Alternatives:
Additions to Twelve-Step & Other Self Help Programs
As an alternative or addition to “twelve-step” programs like Alcoholics Anonymous, Alanon, Narcotics Anonymous, or Codependents Anonymous, I offer my clients contemporary cognitive behavioral therapy and skills-based counseling approaches for learning self-regulation to enhance their lives.
Through such methods I assist people in changing life-defeating habits or compulsions like internet games, chat rooms, gambling, binge eating, sex addiction, internet pornography, and the like. I teach various self-management techniques (coping-skills) that target problems with diminished impulse control, and I teach self-regulation and avoidance reduction strategies to enhance goal-directed outcomes that clients wish to achieve in their lives.

“Jails were built to detain criminals, bad persons, who willingly and willfully (trengress) the civil and social laws. . . . The mentally ill are innocents, guilty of nothing but behaving under disease. Jailing the mentally ill makes as much sense as jailing someone for contracting tuberculosis.” — Dorthea Dix
