Although positive psychology, or a psychological focus on the effects of being positive, has grown a lot in the last few decades, society still brings a lot of pressure to the individual on what it means to be happy. Climbing the corporate ladder, making a lot of money, and having a lot of things are still guideposts that many people carry with them on what it means to acquire happiness. As this consumer and technological lifestyle increases, however, so does the rate of depression. The good news is that our minds are malleable, and it is possible for us to rework what it means to be happy in order to increase happiness in our lives.
