This article centers around a saying: “Just because someone invites you to a drama doesn’t mean you have to attend.” This is not a common saying, but maybe it should be. At the very least, it is a sound piece of advice that most of us could benefit by remembering, especially those of us who have felt emotionally manipulated and drained before by participating in someone else’s drama that doesn’t involve us. Before stepping into the drama someone else is creating for themselves in the future, it would be good to remember that we don’t need to attend. However the invitation is delivered, we can stop and ask ourselves if it will do any good.
